I'm a current junior at University of Rochester. My overall experience at University of Rochester has been below average. I would say it is not a safe area at all, the food is only good when parents/other people are touring the school, and definitely pay attention to anything you sign up for (summer housing, different meal plans, or really anything) because they WILL NOT inform you about additional charges to your student account and are very stingy about money. Rule of thumb: don't trust a damn thing from this school unless you're willing to give up more money for it...

This school is the worst decision of my life! The food here is terrible; the amount of times my friends and I have gotten food poisioning from the dinning hall is not okay. If you're looking to go to a school with a large social scene or party scene, this school is not it. The parties here are pathetic and are so bad. There is a small percentage of the school that is actually social. The academics are average but they are definitely not worth 80k a year! The students here are very racist and there is really no diversity among the student body. It's a great STEM school and has a lot of opportunties for STEM students, but if you're interested in majoring in the social sciences do not come here! There is little opportuntites for the social science students. Lastly, the area surrounding campus is so dangerous and man students have gotten robbed at gunpoint off campus.

Going to this school was easily the worst decision of my life. From the moment I arrived on campus there was zero effort from any of the faculty to help students make friends, there was such a loneliness and boredom for myself, my roommate, and the friends I only knew through meeting them before arriving on campus. There is no town area, so either you're in your dorm, at the dining hall, in class, or at the library. There are no activities for students to do on campus, and if by some chance there is, it costs money. This would be fine if tuition wasn't already approaching 100K, but I refuse to pay for a s'more at the winter fair where that is literally the only station. If you want a town area, it's either a 30 minute uphill walk or a ride on the buses which rarely run on time or even run at all. The drinking water was contaminated TWICE last year due to dead bodies being found in the river. I ed'ed here because I truly had hope for this place, but seriously save yourself a wasted year
