What are the best seats in Lufthansa economy? ›

The best seats in economy class

Seats in economy typically offer a pitch of 31 inches and a width of 17.1 inches. They can be found in rows 16-20 behind business and premium economy and in rows 27-49 behind the premium economy cabin.

Best Seats

As there is no seat ahead of seats 48A and 48K, these also have ample legroom. It's easy to avoid proximity to the toilets by choosing a seat towards the front of the first economy cabin in the forward zone (we would suggest rows 41 to 43), or the middle of the main cabin, around rows 50 to 55.

Extra Legroom Seat

Lufthansa premium economy seats offer 50% more room on all sides when compared with Lufthansa's economy class. Lufthansa's premium economy seats offer 38 inches of pitch and a seat that is 18-19 inches wide, with 8 inches of recline.

You can book your seat either right away at the time of booking or later on. You can reserve a seat via My bookings up to 52 hours prior to departure. You can also select your seat at check-in.

Exit rows, aisle or window seats, and anywhere close to the front are typically considered the best seats on a plane.

“The smoothest place to sit is over the wings,” says commercial pilot Patrick Smith, host of AskThePilot.com. These seats are close to the plane's center of lift and gravity. “The roughest spot is usually the far aft. In the rearmost rows, closest to the tail, the knocking and swaying is more pronounced.”

The rear most seats (46–50) should give you better almost unobstructed view. The window will be slightly angled outwards while the fuselage shape pointed up to the tail. 37–45 are good choices, since your view will mostly be free from the massive 777 wings and its raked tip.

Are premium economy seats worth it? ›

It depends on your priorities; many people value the extra room, especially on transatlantic or long-haul flights. Premium class seats will typically have 5-7 extra inches of legroom and width. If the difference is just 15-20%, it might be worth upgrading.

Let's take a look at the number of NTSB events per 100k departures over time. The result indicates to me that Boeing has more NTSB events per departure, about 6.5 per 100k departures vs. 3.8 per 100k for Airbus (assuming I haven't made any errors). That's about 1.7x more events per departure than Airbus!
